Demand for studio type (1 bedroom, 1 living room) apartments increases with each passing year, it has been reported in a main Turkish newspaper. These studio type apartments that also take an important part in large housing projects can cost almost as much as 2+1 type (2 bedrooms, 1 living room) apartments. Rental prices for depending on location, size and view of a property may cost up to 3,250 euros per month. Second-hand sales prices for a studio apartment vary between $500-600,000 in Istanbul.

As demand for studio apartments increases, studio prices have become as high as a 2+1 or 3+1 apartments in Istanbul's most central locations, according to Hürriyet's research on the rental apartment market. The increased demand for studios, which is likely to continue, is attributed to people trying to minimize the cost of housing.

In Istanbul's Kanyon Residence and Süzer Plaza, Arnavutköy and Nişantaşı luxury studio apartments are renting for 3,000 euros per month. One extreme is an apartment in Arnavutköy by the Bosporus River with a special design, an 80 square-metre garden and lavish furniture, such as a LCD television, air-conditioning, home theatre and household appliances, on the market for 3,250 euros per month. This apartment is 90 square-metres and located in a five-story building.  

A suit in Nişantaşı: the price for a 1+1 apartment located on the 21st floor of the same plaza as the Ritz Hotel in Taksim is renting for $4,000. This 110 square-metre “residence apartment” with two bathrooms also includes security, parking space, and a view of the Bosporus. The apartment is intended to be rented to foreigners as the advertisement was published only in English.

Another example for the above is a studio type apartment located on the bottom floor of a 30-year-old building in Nişantaşı. The 65-square-metre apartment is renting for $3,700 with a required deposit of YTL 10,000.
